OLIVA NOVA, Spain, July 21, 2016–German teams won both the European Junior and Young Rider Championship gold medals Thursday while the Netherlands took silvers in the two divisions and Denmark the bronzes.
Germany’s Semmieke Rothenberger, 16 years old, on Dissertation, a nine-year-old Hanoverian mare, posted the highest individual score, 77.351 per cent, in the juniors in only the third show for the pair since beginning international competitions three months ago. The duo have won six of their seven starts.
The Netherlands’ world No. 1 Young Rider pair of Jeanine Nieuwenhuis, 20 years old, on TC Athene, 11-year-old KWPN gelding, topped the individual placings with 76.985 per cent but it was not enough to overtake the German team.
