HAGEN, Germany, June 11, 2016–The German team riders wrapped up their domination of the Future Champions Young Rider Nations Cup by sweeping the top three places in the Freestyle Saturday while the USA’s Kerrigan Gluch on Vaquero HGF posted a personal best score for the second straight day.
Jil-Marielle Becks on Damon’s Satelite, son of Olympic, World Games and World Cup star Damon Hill owned by her family, won the Freestyle with a score of 78.042 per cent that came after leading Germany to the top of the Nations Cup podium then capturing the individual top spot.
Team mates Anna-Christina Abbelen on Fürst on Tour were second on 75.875 per cent and Anna-Lisa Theile on Ducati K third on 73.792 per cent.
For Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF, the stallion bred and owned by Hampton Green Farm in Wellington, Florida the score of 69.375 per cent surpassed their previous top result of 69.050 per cent that earned the pair the North American Young Rider Freestyle Championship bronze medal a year ago. Kerrigan and the nine-year-old Vaquero posted a personal best CDI individual result Friday.
Lauren Asher of San Diego, California on De Noir scored 68.083 per cent 11th place while Barbara “Bebe” Davis also of Wellington on Don Antonio, borrowed from a European business associate of her family when her Feivel Mouskewitz was not fit to compete, scored 63.833 per cent for 18th place.
Kerrigan, who will be a college sophomore in the fall, is competing in Europe for the first time and the second year the United States has sent a team to compete at the Future Champions event.
The results for the pair come 14 months since taking over the ride after the horse had been competed in young horse classes in Europe by Jose Daniel Martin Dockx, the rider of the Hampton Green Farm-owned Grandioso for Spain at the Olympics, World Games and European Championships and is seeking a spot on the team for the Rio Games in August.
