ODENSE, Denmark, May 14, 2016–Katherine Bateson-Chandler on Alcazar produced the highest American score to keep the United States team in contention for a podium finish in the CDIO3* Nations Cup, the first European event in the trans-Atlantic series.
Katherine of Wellington, Florida and Alcazar, 11-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Jane Clark, scored 69.520 per cent to place eighth individually in the Grand Prix and help the United States to fifth place so far behind Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Australia.
Beatrice Marienau of Oak Creek, Colorado competing on her first ever U.S. team rode her Stefano 8, a 17-year-old KWPN gelding, to 12th place individually on 67.160 per cent. Jennifer Hoffman, based in Germany, rode her Rubinio NRW to a score of 65.780 per cent. Three scores counted for the Grand Prix team competition so the result for Susan Dutta of Wellington and Currency DC of 63.220 per cent was not included.
Beatrice and Stefano and Susan and Currency move to the Grand Prix Special to count for the Nations Cup. The score from the top placing combination in the Grand Prix Freestyle also counts for the final result.
After victory in Wellington, the U.S. is atop the Nations Cup standings. The European legs of the first year of the official series include this event in Denmark, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Britain.
