DEL MAR, California, April 29, 2016–Steffen Peters rode Legolas to victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Friday and placed third on Rosamunde in their last American competition before heading to Europe to compete for a spot on the United States Olympic team. Günter Seidel on Zero Gravity notched a personal best score for second.
Steffen of San Diego, California scored 77.160 per cent on Legolas, a 14-year-old Westfalen gelding, the No. 8 combination on the world rankings.
Günter of Cardiff, California and Zero Gravity, a 12-year-old KWPN gelding, were awarded 73.020 per cent that beat their previous highest Grand Prix result of 72.420 per cent set at Thousand Oaks, California last September.
The ride by Steffen on Rosamunde, the nine-year-old Rhinelander mare that began Big Tour 14 months ago, received a score of 71.680 per cent, the lowest score in California for the world’s 17th ranked combination.
Steffen and Rosamunde are ranked second on the U.S. Olympic rankings behind Laura Graves on Verdades and third on Legolas.
