LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Mar. 2, 2016–Russia’s Inessa Merkulova on Mister X jumped into the top 10 in the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) world rankings published Wednesday, while German Kristina Bröring-Sprehe on Desperados FRH stayed atop the standings for the second month in a row.
Inessa and the 12-year-old Russian-bred Trakhner moved into eighth place in the rankings to the end of February, up from 14th the previous month. The pair rwere awarded 82.240 per cent in the Moscow CDI3* Grand Prix last week in time to be included in the rankings.
Kristina and Desperados became the world’s No. 1 combination for the first time last month, surpassing Great Britain’s Olympic and world championship duo of Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro that were second ranked in the latest standings.
Russia’s Marina Aframeeva on Vosk, a horse also owned by Inessa Merkulova and was runner-up in Moscow, moved into 50th place from 69 the previous month.
The only other substantial change in the top 50 was the United States’ Shelly Francis on Doktor climbing to 42nd from 59th in January, based on strong results at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida.
Steffen Peters on Legolas stayed in the sixth spot while Laura Graves on Verdades remained in 15th and Steffen on Rosamunde was in the 18th spot.
Denmark team rider Mikala Gundersen on My Lady jumped to 25th from 30th the previous month, now with their highest ever ranking.
