FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 20, 2015–Isabell Werth posted two victories Sunday, winning the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle on El Santo NRW and the prestigious Louisdor Prize for young Grand Prix horses on Emilio.
Isabell scored 79.725 per cent for the win on El Santo, the 14-year-old Rhinelander gelding that she competed at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in April and the Central Park Horse Show in New York in September. This was the pair’s second win this year, the other being the Freestyle at Wiesbaden, Germany in May.
Fellow German Sanneke Rothenberger on Deveraux OLD, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, placed second on 76.775 per cent.
Sweden’s Patrik Kittel on Toy Story, a 15-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding owned with the family of his Australian wife, Lyndal Oatley, placed third on 76.475 per cent.
Isabell and the nine-year-old Westfalen gelding Emilio won the Louisdor Prize Final of the series for eight to 10-year-old Grand Prix horses.
The pair scored 79.100 per cent for the victory in the national competition. The duo started international senior Grand Prix three months ago and won all four starts before this Final.
The victory was especially satisfying for Isabell as Emilio had been placed with her as a three-year-old but the owners wanted the horse back and then was came back into her program.
Sönke Rothenberger on Cosmo, an eight-year-old KWPN gelding, was runner-up on 74.320 per cent.
Great Britain’s Susan Pape on Harmony’s Fiorano, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Harmony Sport Horses of Kiowa, Colorado placed third on 69.760 per cent.
