FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 19, 2015–Beatrice Buchwald and Weihegold OLD claimed the CDI4* Grand Prix Special Saturday with the highest score for the pair so far and at the same show where the pair won both the German championships for Small Tour and developing Grand Prix horses in the past two years.
Beatrice and Weihegold, a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare (Don Schufro x Sandro Hit) were awarded 75.961 per cent for the fifth victory in eight starts since the duo started the Big three months ago.
Fellow Germans Hubertus Schmidt on Imperio placed second on 75.118 per cent and Anabel Balkenhol on Dablino FRH, winners of the Grand Prix Friday, were third on 74.745 per cent.
Beatrice, 26 years old and assistant trainer to Isabell Werth, rode Weihegold to take the German Small Tour Championship, the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal Prix St. George Special for horses aged seven to nine years old in 2013, and the Louisdor Preis for developing Grand Prix horses in 2014. The finals of both series are staged at this Christmas show in the Frankfurter Festhalle.
