SALZBURG, Austria, Dec. 3, 2015–Beatrice Buchwald rode Weihegold OLD to their third straight victory to beat her boss, Isabell Werth on El Santo NRW, in winning the CDI4* Grand Prix for the Special Thursday.
Beatrice, assistant to the German five-time Olympic gold medalist, rode the 10-year-old Oldenburg mare to a score of 73.380 per cent in the pair’s fifth international start since beginning Big Tour in September and the first head-to-head competition with Isabell.
Isabell and El Santo were scored at 71.720 per cent with Henrik Lochthowe on Meggle’s Boston in third on 67.280 per cent to complete a German sweep of the top three places.
El Santo is one of five Grand Prix horses currently competed by Isabell who rode the 14-year-old Rhinelander gelding at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas last April as well as at the Central Park Horse Show in New York.
