STOCKHOLM, Nov. 28, 2015–Hans Peter Minderhoud and Glock’s Flirt narrowly beat their Netherlands team mate Adelinde Cornelissen on Jerich Parzival in the World Cup Grand Prix at the Sweden International Horse Show Saturday.

Hans Peter and 14-year-old Swiss Warmblood gelding scored 77.000 per cent for the win in their first competition since Rotterdam in June where they posted their best Grand Prix result so far of 77.140 per cent. The pair won the Grand Prix here a year ago, the only previous victory in 17 months of their partnership.

Adelinde, also competing Parzival for only the second time this year, received scores that differed by almost eight percentage points for a total of 76.720 per cent for second place and a month before the KWPN gelding turns 19 years old.

The pair received the highest mark of 80.300 per cent from Denmark’s Susanne Baarup at C, 78.100 and 78.500 from Magnus Ringmark and Gustav Svalling, respectively, from Sweden but 72.800 from Isabelle Judet of France and  73.900 from Ghislain Fouarge of the Netherlands.

Patrik Kittel, the Swedish team Olympian, rode Watermill Scandic to third place on 76.180 per cent.

Denmark’s Agnete Kirk Thinggaard and Jojo AZ placed fourth with a personal best score of 74.200 per cent, surpassing their previous Grand Prix high of 73.040 per cent at Lyon, France a year ago. As well as seeking a start at the World Cup Final, Agnete is also seeking to be one of three Danish combinations to qualify as individuals and thus able to form a team for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next summer.

Lyndal Oatley and Sandro Boy, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, also posted the highest CDI Grand Prix score ever by an Australian, 72.800 per cent. Their previous best was 72.680 per cent posted at Deauville, France in July, 2014. Lyndal began riding Sandro Boy, owned by her parents, in 2011. She was on the Australian team at the Olympics in London in 2012 and the World Games in Normandy last year.

Adelinde and Parzival, in their only previous performance this year, were awarded 74.420 per cent in the Grand Prix at Rotterdam in June that was the lowest Grand Prix score for the duo in six years. In between, Adelinde and Parzival won multiple Olympic and championship medals and were ranked No. 1 in the world.

The declining results led to Adelinde being informed she and Parzival would no longer be on the Netherlands’ elite squad from which the country’s top teams are selected. Their last championship was the World Games in Normandy in the summer of 2014.
