VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 8, 2015–German team rider Hubertus Schmidt rode Imperio to their first victory in two years at Big Tour in capturing the CDI3* Grand Prix Saturday with a personal best score.
Hubertus and the 12-year-old Trakehner stallion scored 77.300 per cent for the win over two Spanish combinations, Severo Jurada on NOHS Daijoubo in second on 70.880 per cent and Claudio Castilla Ruiz on Alcaide in third on 70.800 per cent.
America’s Catherine Haddad-Staller of Stockton, New Jersey on Mane Stream Hotmail placed fourth on 70.700 per cent, the highest Grand Prix score in Europe for the pair that compete at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in winter.
Hubertus, an Olympic and World Games team rider for Germany, and Imperio have been competing at Grand since the end of 2013.
