HAGEN, Germany, July 12, 2015–Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Desperados FRH posted a personal best score to win the CDIO5* Nations Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday for the pair’s eighth straight win in an undefeated 2015 while Totilas was ridden by Matthias Alexander Rath for the second victory in their comeback performance at this show.
The performances are likely to place both combinations on the German team for the European Championships in Aachen, Germany next month.
The score of 87.575 per cent for Kristina and the 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion was close to the highest Freestyle marks for a German combination–Helen Langehanenberg on Damon Hill NRW and Matthias on Totilas both scored 88.000 per cent in international competitions.
Isabell Werth on Don Johnson FRH scored 82.775 per cent for second place and the highest Freestyle score for the pair in almost 2 1/2 years, while the World Cup bronze medal pair of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Unee BB was third on 82.450 per cent.
Matthias and the 15-year-old black KWPN stallion scored 80.039 per cent in the CDI4* Special after the duo posted better than 80 per cent in the Grand Prix Friday that was their first competition in a year after recovering from an injury that kept the pair off last year’s World Games team, as an injury did for the 2012 Olympics.
Anabel Balkenhol on Dablino FRH, who did make it to the 2012 London Games, placed second on 76.353 per cent with Fabienne Lütkemeier on D’Agostino FRH third on 75.49 per cent to complete a German sweep of the top three places.
