FRITZENS, Austria, June 28, 2015–Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin OLD won the Manfred Swarovski Memorial Tournament CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday for a double victory in their first show since the World Games last summer.
Victoria and the 15-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 80.825 per cent a day after capturing the Grand Prix and repeating the double win at this same event a year ago as the top Austrian pair prepare for the European Championships in August. The duo competed at last summer’s World Games in Normandy as well as the 2012 Olympics and the 2009, 2011 and 2013 European.
Isabell Werth on El Santo NRW placed second on 78.750 per cent.
Great Britain’s Michael Eilberg on Marakov scored a career high for the pair of 77.225 per cent, eclipsing their previous high of 74.775 per cent posted at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany four weeks ago.
The British team rider and the 15-year-old Latvian-bred gelding that have been a Big Tour partnership for five years have moved to a new level this summer and emerged as a contender for a place on Britain’s team at the Europeans.
Michael turned over the reins of Half Moon Delphi, which he had competed for team-medal winning performances at world and European championships, to an American rider earlier this month when the mare was sold.
German Olympian Dorothee Schneider finished her debut Grand Prix show on Showtime with a double victory by capturing the Special on a score of 74.627 per cent a day after winning the Grand Prix.
Fellow Germans Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Zaire was second on 70.549 per cent and Stefanie Weihermüller on Wunderkind third on 69.784 per cent.
