FRITZENS, Austria, June 26, 2015–Woodlander Farouche was ridden by Michael Eilberg to an easy victory in the Manfred Swarovski Memorial Tournament Prix St. Georges Friday for the British pair’s undefeated run of 11 victories in international competitions outside their homeland over the past four years .
Michael and the British-bred nine-year mare scored 76.579 per cent and were the unanimous choice for first place of the five judges who placed Germany’s Wibke Bruns both second and third, on Donna Caribica at 72.026 per cent and San Francisco OLD on 71.421 per cent. The German-based Jennifer Hoffman of Encinita, California on Florentinus V was fourth on 70.263 per cent and 2015 World Cup bronze medalist Jessica von Bredow-Werndl of Germany on Havana in the fifth spot with 69.947 per cent.
The lineup of riders was highly competitive with German Olympians Ulla Salzgeber on Sir Simon and Dorothee Schneider on Santiago as well as Denmark’s Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein on Dolany.
Woodlander Farouche was competed by Michael Eilberg in only their second CDI Small Tour. It was also the first competition since he sent his British championship team horse, Half Moon Delphi, to an American rider.
Michael and Woodlander Farouche were undefeated at both five and six-year-old World Young Horse Championships in Germany and a half-dozen six-year-old classes in Europe in 2012.
Their first international Small Tour competition was at Barcelona in March where they won the Prix St. Georges and Intermediate Freestyle.
