MILL SPRING, North Carolina, June 26, 2015–Horse shows organized by partnerships led by Mark Bellissimo in North Carolina, Florida, Colorado and New York’s Central Park have implemented an initiative to make cash awards to jumper grooms that he plans to extend to dressage, eventing and hunters.
He announced the award Friday to begin immediately at the Tryon International Equestrian Center and said it will be extended to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center where the Global Dressage Festival and Winter Equestrian Festival are staged, the recently acquired Colorado Horse Park as well as the Central Park Horse Show in New York and the Trump Invitational at Mar-a-Lago on Palm Beach.
The award of $500 “will reward grooms for their hard work and dedication as they continue to serve integral roles in the success of equestrian sport around the world,” he said.
The award will made to the groom of the winning horse in the largest purse class (over $25,000) of the competition week. The groom will be highlighted in all communications released about the class including a winning presentation photo.
Competitors will be asked to include their groom’s registration along with their declaration for the class. If no groom is registered for the winner, the award will be added to the following week’s prize.
