CEDAR VALLEY, Ontario, May. 24, 2015–Brittany Fraser and All In won the CDI1* Intermediate 1 Sunday to complete the hat trick at this second to last qualifying competition for Canada’s Pan American Games team of mixed Big and Small Tour combinations.
The score of 73.553 per cent in the Inter. 1 came after victories in the Prix St. Georges with 72.368 per cent Friday and and the Inter. Freestyle Saturday night. This weekend’s results were the best for the pair and could move the duo up in the Equine Canada standings.
Guatemala’s Esther Mortimer on Adajio placed second on 69.298 per cent while Diana Creech on Hallmark were third on 67.982 per cent. Diane, though, leads the small tour standings on Robbie W.
Brittany and All In were ranked fourth coming into this weekend’s competition behind Diane Creech, Chris von Martels on Zilverstar and Belinda Trussell on Tattoo. Belinda leads the big tour standings on Anton. Selection for the team is not based solely on scores but can include other factors such as recent results and improvements.
The final qualifier for the Pan Ams is scheduled for next week.
Only a single nation with at least one Grand Prix combination at the Pan Ams can win a starting place at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The United States is heavily favored with at least two Grand Prix combinations capable of scores in the mid-70 per cent range and an extra 1.5 per cent for the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special that make up the Big Tour division in the Nations Cup.
A country that does not win the single slot available through the Pan Ams can seek to qualify individual pairs through world rankings with the goal of a minimum of three pairs to make up a “composite” team.
