HAGEN, Germany, April 25, 2015–Swedish Olympian Patrik Kittel and Deja posted a personal best score to win the Horses & Dreams CDI3* Grand Prix for the Freestyle Saturday while Ingrid Klimke competing Dresden Mann for the first time in almost two years were second.
Patrick, based in Germany and the 11-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare scored 78.000 per cent as the unanimous choice for winner but with scores as high as 81.000 per cent from Susan Hoevenaars of Australia–one of two scores above 80 per cent–and a low of 73.900 per cent from Evi Eisenhardt of Germany at the show that this year celebrates Australia. Patrik is married to Australia’s Lyndal Oatley.
The previous highest score for Deja in the Grand Prix was 76.120 per cent posted in March. The mare started her Grand Prix career in December, 2013.
Germany’s Ingrid Klimke, who competes internationally at both dressage and eventing, scored 72.980 per cent for the runnerup spot on Dresden Mann, an 11-year-old Westfalen gelding, with fellow German Hubertus Schmidt on Hedelunds Mefisto in third place on 72.460 per cent.
“She is a true tournament horse,” Patrik said of the mare. “Every time she enters the arena, her ears point forwards and she knows exactly that it’s time to rock. I almost only have to guide her,”
