ORANGE, Australia, Feb, 21, 2015–Veteran Australian Olympian Mary Hanna posted a lifetime best score when she rode Umbro to victory in the Dressage With Altitude CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night, a day after achieving the same result in the Grand Prix.
Mary and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding placed first with the score of 75.950 per cent that surpassed the previous high score of 74.775 per cent attained on Sancette in Deauville, France last July in preparation for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy.
The 60-year-old rider and Umbro scored 72.521 per cent in the Grand Prix a day earlier that also was a lifetime best for the Grand Prix.
World Games team mates Maree Tomkinson on Diamantina was second in the Freestyle on 72.025 per cent with Caroline Wagner on Tango V third on 70.500 per cent.
Eddy de Wolff of the Netherlands and Jean-Michel Roudier of France gave Mary the highest marks, both awarding the winning duo scores above 77 per cent at the competition 160 miles (255km) west of Sydney.
Mary and Umbro won the Pacific League Final last month for the rider to earn a start at the World Cup Final in Las Vegaes in mid-April.
