WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 6, 2015–Christoph Koschel rode Rostropowitsch NRW to victory in the Global Dressage Festival CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Friday, the first win in Florida for the German team rider.
The ride for a score of 75.100 per cent was the first competition for the 13-year-old Westfalen gelding since last June as Cristoph focused on final preparations at his family’s Hagen-based training center for several riders from around the world for the World Equestrian Games. Christoph rode for Germany at the 2010 World Games in Kentucky and the European Championshipos in 2009.
Juan Matute, Jr., the 17-year-old son of Wellington-based Spanish Olympian Juan Matute, on Don Diego Ymas placed second on 72.375 per cent in only the second senior Grand Prix Freestyle for the pair.
USA Olympic rider Lisa Wilcox of Wellington on Pikko del Cerro HU third on 71.650 per cent.
