WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 4, 2015–Steffen Peters will debut Rosamunde in the first international Grand Prix for the eight-year-old mare that will be a highlight of the Global Dressage Festival Thursday.

The small tour star that was competed in only a national Grand Prix, at Thermal, California a month ago, is one of 28 horses and riders from 10 nations in the CDI3* Grand Prix ahead of the $200,000 CDI5* Grand Prix presented by Diamante Farms.

Steffen, who will compete Legolas in the headline Grand Prix, brought Rosamunde (Rock Forever x Fidermark) from his San Diego, California base for the first international Grand Prix. In eight starts at small tour on both sides of the Atlantic last year, the Rhinelander mare won seven times and placed second once.

Legolas, a 13-year-old Westfalen gelding, was ridden by Steffen on the U.S. team at last year’s World Games. The pair are the reigning national champions.

Their first Grand Prix since the WEG was also at Thermal last month. The ride can be seen here.

In the first stage of the Prix St. Georges Wednesday, the USA’s Olivia LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir were leading on 71.947 per cent with Diane Creech of Canada in second place with Robbie W at 71.526 per cent and in third on Hallmark 3 with 69.632 per cent. The final stage will be held Thursday.
