AMSTERDAM, Jan. 30, 2015–Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro scored 86.140 per cent–within 1.32 per cent of their world record–to claim victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Friday at the second of two shows the globe’s No. 1 pair need to perform in to go to Las Vegas to defend their title.
The Netherlands’ Danielle Heijkoop on Siro placed second on 78.320 per cent that was a personal best eclipsing their previous high of 77.280 per cent set almost a year ago.
Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on Unee BB was third on 74.880 per cent.
Two judges, Stephen Clarke of Great Britain and Eduard de Wolff van Westerrode of the Netherlands, awarded Charlotte and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding scores above 88 per cent.
Overall, the Olympic and world championship partnership received 20 marks of 10.
The world record of 87.460 per cent was set by the duo at London’s Olympia World Cup event last month.
The Freestyle is scheduled for Saturday.
