BONEO, Australia, Jan. 24, 2015–Mary Hanna on Umbro won the Pacific League Final World Cup Grand Prix Frestyle Saturday night to earn the four-time Olympian the single starting place from Down Under at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in mid-April.
Mary and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 71.650 per cent to beat out the veteran combination of Heath Ryan and Regardez Moi in second on 71.200 per cent with Kate Farrell on Luxor third on 70.675 per cent. Maree Tomkinson and Diamantina, also on last year’s world championship team, placed fourth on 69.825 per cent.
Mary, the reigning Pacific League champion, left her top horse, Sancette, in Europe after competing on the Australian team at last year’s World Games.
