MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 7, 2014–Portugal’s Gonçalo Carvalho made his international debut with the Lusitano mare Batuta with a victory in the Munich Indoor CDI4* Grand Prix for the Special Friday.
Gonçalo, who took over the ride earlier this year from Spanish rider Jose Antonio Garcia Mena, scored 71.400 per cent for the win over Germans Ellen Schulten-Baumer on Grosso’s Gentle on 71.260 per cent and Hubertus Schmidt on Hedelund’s Mefisto third on 71.160 per cent.
The eight-year old Batuta (Quixote x Icaro) was ridden by Jose Antonio Garcia Mena of Spain in CDIs in Barcelona and Madrid before a change in ownership.
Batuta succeeds Rubi who was retired after Gonçalo competed the horse in the 2012 Olympics.
