Under the rules, the scores from the Grand Prix of combinations from the U.S. championships in Gladstone, New Jersey last month, the Fritzens, Austria CDI4* and this World Equestrian Festival CDIO5* count for team selection,
The rules do, however, provide for veterinary fitness and other factors but are not subjective.

Tina Konyot of Palm City Florida and Calecto V, her mount at the World Games in 2010 and the Olympics in 2012, and Caroline Roffman of Wellington, Florida and Her Highness O earned their placings based on their results.
