LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 27, 2014–Two dressage judges, from Denmark and the Netherlands, have been promoted to International Equestrian Federation 5* status, the highest ranking in the FEI system.

Hans-Christian Matthiesen of Denmark and Mariette Sanders-Van Gansewinkel of the Netherlands were awarded the promotions by the FEI Dressage Committee, to come into effect July 1.

With their new 5* status the judges will now be eligible to officiate at major FEI dressage events, including Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, World Cup Finals and FEI championships at Grand Prix level.

The new 5* judges will be re-evaluated after a three-year probation period.

The additions brings the number of 5* Dressage judges to 33, with Germany and the Netherland with five each, the United States with four, three each in Denmark, France and Great Britain and the rest in another seven countries.
