ACHLEITEN, Austria, June 13, 2014–Victoria Max-Theurer won the Grand Prix to qualify for the Freestyle on Augustin OLD and the Grand Prix for the Special on Blind Date at the CDI4* Friday, while Canada’s Karen Pavicic and Don Daiquiri may have kept alive her hopes of making her nation’s team for the World Equestrian Games.
Vici and the Augustin, a 14-year-old Oldenburg stallion, scored 75.760 per cent for the win to move to the Freestyle while Switzerland’s Marcela Krinke Susmelj and Smeyers Molberg placed second on 72.420 per cent in the event that will include for the first time a qualifier for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, Germany’s premier small tour competition for horses aged seven to nine years.
Karen and Don Daiquiri were third on 68.000 per cent that gave her a required fourth qualifying score to add to three from Wellington, Florida and give the pair an average of 68.55 per cent.
The pair are currently fifth on the Canadian standings behind Megan and Caravella, David Marcus and Chrevi’s Capital and Belinda Trussell and Anton. Jacquelina Brooks and D Niro have an average from three competitions of 68.759 per cent and are entered at a competition in Ontario next week.
In the Grand Prix for the Special, Vici and Blind Date won with a score of 73.520 per cent while fellow Austrian Evelyn Haim-Swarovski and Dorina were second on 67.000 per cent and Patricia Schärliof Switzerland on Cappucino XIV were third with 66.960 per cent.
