SYDNEY, May 2, 2014–The 18-year-old Regardez Moi that rider Heath Ryan describes as in the “evening of his career,” won the Sydney CDI3* Grand Prix Special Friday for his 24th CDI victory in the eighth year at the top level of the sport.

Heath and Regardez Moi scored 68.412 per cent to turn the tables on Carolyn Wagner and Tango V who were second on 66.647 per cent after taking the Grand Prix a day earlier with Jayden Brown and Furst Friedrich in third on 66.196 per cent.

“Regardez Moi is in the evening of his career and he’s been a mighty horse for me,” said Heath of the black stallion that he competed in the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2009, during the horse’s sole competition swing out of Australia.

“He’s had over 40 Grand Prix wins, he’s won the Grand Final at Equitana three years running and has represented Australia internationally, but he’s 18 so it’s all coming to a close.

“He’s still a great horse though, so if I can get the timing right he can give everyone a serious run for his money.

“He was first out today which is a bugger of a spot to win a competition from, but he posted a blinder and he hung on and we won so it’s wonderful.” A “blinder” is Australian for a really good ride.

Ryan also rode Regardez Moi’s son, the nine-year-old Utopian Cardinal, who placed fifth on 65.157 per cent.
