Thomas Wagner and Very Keen, the 2012 Lousidor Cup champions for developing Grand Prix horses in Germany, won their first CDI Grand Prix Saturday in leading a German sweep of the top five places at the CDI3* at Stadl Paura, Austria.
Thomas and his 12-year old KWPN gelding (Oklund x Dutchboy) posted a personal best of 71.320 per cent in their sixth Grand Prix since starting at CDI Grand Prix a year ago.
Sanneke Rothenberger, in only the second CDI Grand Prix on Favourit, placed second with 71.000 per cent. The 15-year-old horse had previously been competed by Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfvén at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and the 2009 and 2011 European Championships before Sanneke, 21 years old, took on the ride.
Matthias Kempkes on Riccoletto was third on 70.480 per cent in the Grand Prix with 24 starting combinations from 10 countries.
