NIEUW EN SINT JOOSLAND, Netherland, April 5, 2014–Claudia Fassaert posted a personal best result on Donnerfee in the pair’s first ever back-to-back victoris in winning the Zeeland Outdoor CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday in their campaign to ride on Belgium’s team in their second World Equestrian Games.

Claudia and the 14-year-old Oldenburg mare (De Niro x Rosenkavalier) scored 75.525 per cent to beat their previous best of 75.175 per cent set at Rotterdam almost two years ago.

The Netherlands’ Patrik van der Meer and Zippo were second on 74.925 per cent and Denmark’s Fie Christine Skarsoe and One Nigh Stand third on 73.100 per cent.

Claudia and Donnerfee won the Grand Prix two days ago and with the victory in the Freestyle they posted their first successive victories in 75 CDI starts.

Since beginning international  Grand Prix four years ago, the 43-year-old rider and Donnerfee have competed for Belgium at the WEG in Kentucky in 2010, the Olympics in London in 2012 and European Championships in 2011 and 2013.

The Grand Prix Special was won by Sweden’s Juliette Ramel and Ten Points on 69.706 per cent, Germany’s Charlott-Maria Schürmann and Burlington FRH were second on 68.549 per cent and Margo Timmermans of the Netherlands and Utah third on 68.529 per cent.

This was the first international Grand Prix show for the 21-year-old Charlotte-Maria and Burlington. The pair placed 11th on 67.560 in their CDI Grand Prix debut Thursday.

Charlott-Maria rode the 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion (Breitling W x Rohdiamant) to become the youngest ever winner of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal with a record high score in 2012. The Burg-Pokal is the final of Germany’s most pretisigious title for small tour horses between seven and nine years old

Charlott-Maria won silver on World of Dreams in the European Junior Championships in 2009 and gold in 2010, team gold on Donna Jackson at European Young Rider Championships in 2011, team gold and individual silver on Burlington at the 2012 European Young Rider Championships and team silver with Edward at the 2013 European Young Riders Championships.
