BARCELONA, Spain, Mar. 20, 2014–Great Britain’s Spencer Wilton rode Supernova to victory in the partnership’s first CDI Grand Prix Thursday, the Barcelona Spring Tour CDI3* with a field of 21 combinations from 11 nations.

Spencer and Supernova, British champions at small tour in 2013, scored 70.729 per cent from the panel of seven judges for the victory over two Spanish pairs, Lauro Aguiló Miguel on Hierro C with 69.100 per cent and Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo and Sunny Boy on 68.100 per cent.

Spencer and the 11-year-old British-bred Hanoverian gelding by De Niro had previously competed in only one CDI, at Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I at Hickstead, England in 2013.
