VIDAUBAN, France, Mar. 9, 2014–Patrik Kittel and Watermill Scandic H.B.C. showed a return to top form when they won the World Dressage Masters Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday with their best result in more than a year.

The Swedish Olympic combination scored 81.025 per cent for the victory with Italy’s Valentina Truppa and Fixdesign Eremo del Castegno second on 78.800 per cent and Germany’s Ulla Salzgeber and Herzruf’s Erbe third on 76.325 per cent.

The win for the German-based Patrik and Scandic was the first since competing in Florida in January, 2013 and the last occasion they scored above 80 per cent. The horse was off the show circuit for several months following an injury last year. The partnership of Patrik and the 15-year-old KWPN stallion is in its sixth year at international Grand Prix.

The Ukraine’s Inna Logutenkova and Don Gregorius took the Grand Prix Special with a score of 72.294 per cent that was higher than any Grand Prix level. This was the first victory for Inna, who lives in Belgium, and the 12-year-old Oldenburg black stallion that have been competing at Grand Prix for almost two years.

France’s Arnaud Serre and Robinson de Lafont were second on 70.627 per cent and Karin Kosak of Austria on Lucy’s Day in third on 68.078 per cent.
