DORTMUND, Germany, Mar. 8, 2014–Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill NRW won the €75,000 (US$104,000) Meggle Champions Finale CDI4* Grand Prix Special Saturday with a personal best result that was also the highest in the world since Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro set the world record almost two years ago.
Helen and the 14-year-old Westfalen stallion scored 85.275 per cent that included 15 marks of 10, four of them for rider’s position and seat while the rest were sprinkled throughout the movements, most for passage but also for canter, walk and halt.

The German rider’s previous best score for the Special was 84.330 per cent at the European Championships last year.
Isabell Werth and Don Johnson FRH placed second on 78.157 per cent with Fabienne Lütkemeier also of Germany and D’Agostino FRH in third on 75.784 per cent. Along with Helen, they were also members of the German gold medal team at the European Championships last summer.
“This feels great,” Helen said. “Dami was at every moment with me and had fun. We have really grown good together.”
The next event for the pair is to defend their World Cup title at Lyon, France in mid-April.
