NEUMÜNSTER, Germany, Feb. 15, 2014–Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill NRW showed Saturday the pair are ready to defend their World Cup title by winning the Grand Prix with a score of 84.300 per cent that was within 0.077 per cent of the personal best posted at last year’s European Championships.
The first international competition of the year for Helen and the 13-year-old Westfalen stallion (Donnerhall x Rubinstein I) was awarded widely differing scores from the panel of five judges with a high of 89.300 per cent from Marietta Almasy of France and a low of 81.800 from Liselotte Fore of the United States.
Anna Kasprzak, Denmark’s leading rider with Donnperignon although she is only 24 years old, placed second with 77.600 per cent that was a personal best exceeding the 76.979 per cent the 2012 Olympic combination posted at Odense, Denmark last October.
Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Unee BB also turned in 75.480 per cent for third place that was their best Grand Prix result in the year the pair have competed at the top level of the sport.
And Denmark’s newest star, 20-year-old Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Millibar, competing in only their third senior Grand Prix posted a personal best of 72.840 per cent for sixth place.
The Freestyle in this sixth of eight Western European eague qualifiers for the World Cup Final in Lyon, France in April will be held Sunday.
