WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 14, 2014–A complete dressage outfit from boots to custom helmet and the gold stock pin worn by Robert Dover at the Olympics, his Olympic rings lapel pin and U.S. team athlete ring from the 2004 Games will be auctioned at the 2nd annual U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation “Solid Gold” benefit at the Global Dressage Festival VIP pavilion on Saturday, Mar. 15.
“Prancing With the Stars” is the theme of the event organized by Robert, the U.S. Chef d’Equipe, to fund America’s 2014 World Equestrian Games dressage athletes and high performance programs.
Entertainment begins at 6:30p.m. with a dressage performance in the International Arena with live horses. The party will then move into the VIP pavilion for hors d’oeurves, cocktails and dinner. David and Arlene “Tuny” Page are providing the beverages from their extensive wine collection while Kimbery and Frederic Boyer are providing the food.
“Prancing With the Stars!” competition will begin with a demonstration by professional dancers then judges Ellin Dixon Miller, Jane Savoie and Bent Jensen will critique and rank eight couples on their -three minute performances.
The live auction will include the finest head-to-toe dressage outfit including a Charles Owen custom helmet, a Pikeur tailcoat and breeches, a custom shirt and stock tie, Roekel Sport gloves, a pair of Koenig boots and choice of spurs and straps donated by the Dressage Connection.
Robert Dover is adding his 24 karat solid gold stock pin designed by his mother, Jean Dover, and worn to Olympic medals. This entire package is valued at well over $10,000.
Robert is also adding his “Olympic Rings” lapel pin and the Olympic ring from the 2004 Athens Games awarded to American team athletes.
All of the money collected from the benefit, ticket sales and auction proceeds, will directly fund the U.S. 2014 World Equestrian Games athletes and High Performance programs. Donations are tax-deductible. Checks should be payable directly to the USET Foundation.
