WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 13, 2014–The second annual Florida International Youth Championships of competition and education gets underway during the Nations Cup next week and built around CDI classes for the first time with prizes worth more than $30,000.
The Florida Youth Championships of pony, junior, young and Under-25 riders were launched in 2013 as an effort by Equestrian Sport Productions, organizers of the Global Dressage Festival, and Dressage4Kids to attract more youth riders to the Wellington winter circuit and the elite levels of the sport.
The championships are open to youth riders from all nations.
The schedule:
* Tuesday 4 p.m.–Global Pavilion: ESP and U.S. Equestrian Federation Dressage Owners Task Force host reception to include parents of FYC competitors;
* Wednesday 3 p.m.–Youth rider seminar on joint maintenance and training for soundness presented by Adequan and veterinarian Rob Van Wessum at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center’s Wellington Club;
* Thursday 6.30 p.m.–Diamante Farms party for youth riders and their guests, and
* Friday–Florida International Youth Dressage Championships begin at Adequan Global Dressage Festival.
Prizes include $3,000 for each division and one stall per division for the 2015 winter circuit plus a bridle from sponsors Dressage4Kids, Hampton Green Farm and PanaCavallo.
