‘s-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, Feb. 8, 2014–Glamourdale, a son of Lord Leatherdale out of a Jazz mare, was declared the KWPN champion dressage stallion with Totilas son Governor-STR reserve champion.
Six dressage stallions were invited for the championship–Google (Bordeaux x Johnson), Grande E (Charmeur x Jetset-D), Galaxie Terra (Jazz x Future), Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro), Governor-STR (Totilas x Jazz), and Gentle T (Vivaldi x Biotop).
The battle for the champion title was between the Lord Leatherdale son Glamourdale and the Totilas son Governor-STR. Wim Ernes, chairman of the stallion selection committee for dressage horses, explained the committee’s decision-making process.
“We considered every evaluation of the stallions–from the first round viewing to the championship ring–and carefully weighed all the information,” he said. “We really vacillated over whom to give the champion title to: Glamourdale or Governor-STR.
“Glamourdale is out of the proven Lord Leatherdale-Negro combination, and he’s a stallion that demonstrated abundant power every time. He has ample length in the body, and his movement is very correct and powerful with great reach and scope.
“The Totilas son Governor is out of the dam line of Jerich Parzival and the KWPN stallion Armani. In addition, Governor is an athlete–he radiates class and moves with great ease, showcasing his natural talent and great expression.”
