AMSTERDAM, Jan. 25, 2014–Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro assured their first World Cup Final start with a commanding win in the Jumping Amsterdam World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday, the second victory for the British pair in two starts in the Western European League.
The double Olympic gold medal and 2013 European individual champion scored 91.275 per cent for the win over local favorite Edward Gal and Glock’s Undercover on 85.125 per cent, the results for both below the marks at the London Olympia event last month when Charlotte and Valegro captured the Freestyle world record.
Denmark’s Anna Kasprzak and Donnperignon placed third with a personal best of 82.000 per cent while Isabell Werth of Germny on Don Johnson FRH posted 80.850 per cent for fourth place and the fourth pair to earn 80-plus per per cent.
Anna, who has become Denmark’s top combination and No. 8 in the world competing on her nation’s team at the Olympics and European Championships since buying Donnperignon from Germany’s Christoph Koschel, now appears to have earned a start in their second World Cup Final when it is staged at Lyon, France in mid-April.
Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmsson-Silfvén is atop the WEL standings with 74 points, but this fifth of eight qualifiers shook up the rest of the top rankings. Edward Gal moved into second place with 51 points, Isabell Werth in third on 48, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl of Germany fourth with 45, Marcela Krinke-Susmelj of Switzerland sixth on 43, Charlotte Dujardin seventh with 40, Hans Peter Minderhoud on 38 and Anna Kasprzak and Fabienne Lütkemeir of Germany tied for ninth on 35. Helen Langehanenberg of Germany is the title defender and has already qualified to return to the Final.
