VECHTA, Germany, Nov. 23, 2013–The Oldenburg champion stallion by De Niro was sold to Danish Olympic rider Andreas Helgstrand for the top price of €910.000 (US$1.23 million) at the Oldenburg stallion auction Saturday.

The 2011 stallion by De Niro out of a Rosario mare was bred by Josef Greten and owned by Johannes Westendarp and Hantfelder Hügel of Wallenhorst, Germany.

A Quaterback-Latimer/Trak-Rubinstein, the reserve champion, brought the second highest price of €220,000 (US$300,000).

The auction of licensed stallion brought in a total of €1.912 million ((US$2.6 million) for an average of €130,643 (US$177,119).

Two stallions were sold to Denmark and one each to Belgium, Switzerland and Singapore.
