SYDNEY, Nov. 15–Eight Australian horse and rider combinations were named Saturday to start in the World Cup Pacific League Final at the end of this month to decide on the single entry from Down Under for the global final to be held at Lyon, France next April.
The eight combinations to start in the PAL final at the Victorian dressage championships in Melbourne Nov. 28-Dec. 1 are:
-Nadia Coghlan and Carlyle, 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Canonicus x Silvio I)
-Maree Tomkinson and Diamantina 4, 11-year-old Oldenburg mare (Diamond Hit x Campari M)
-Chantal Wigan and Ferero, 15-year-old KWPN gelding (Ferro x Wellington)
-Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle, 17-year-old Australian Warmblood (Rocadero)
-Kerry Mack and Mayfield Pzazz, 16-year-old KWPN stallion (Jazz x Amulet)
-Heath Ryan and Regardez Moi, 17-year-old Oldenburg stallion (Rubinstein x Consul)
-Mary Hanna and Sancette, 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Sandro Hit x Contender)
-Caroline Wagner and Tango V, 13-year-old KWPN gelding (Jazz x Blanc Rivage)
Sheridyn Ashwood and Prestige VDL, the most successful combination in Australia this year at Grand Prix and the Special, were reported to have passed up the league final in hopes of being selected as a prospect for the World Equestrian Games team later in the year. Prestige is a stallion that complicates travel with Australia’s quarantine requirements.
