OLDENBURG, Germany, Nov. 9–Daniel Heijkoop and Kingsley Siro won the Grand Prix Special Saturday for a sweep of the Oldenburg CDI4* that included a personal best score in the Grand Prix and the first victories of the year for the rising Netherlands’ combination.
The 26-year-old rider and Kingsley Siro scored 73.229 per cent in the Special with Germany’s veteran Hubertus Schmidt and Imperio second on 72.875 per cent and Katja Gevers of the Netherlands and Thriller third on 69.854 per cent.
The order of finish for the top three was the same as the Grand Prix on Friday when Danielle and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding (Gribaldi x Hemmingway) posted 73.319 per cent to beat their previous best Grand Prix score of 72.149 per cent at Aachen, Germany in June.
Hubertus and Imperio were runnerup on 70.660 per cent with Katja and Thriller third on 69.298 per cent.
Danielle is coached by Dutch superstar Anky van Grunsven. She is in her first full year in the senior ranks after wrapping up a successful Under-25 career in 2012 . She attracted attention by qualifying for the final 15 in the European Championships in August.
Australia’s Hayley Beresford and Jaybee Alabaster placed fifth in both the Grand Prix Special with 69.687 per cent and the Grand Prix on 69.064 per cent.
Susan Dutta of Wellington, Florida and Currency DC placed seventh on 67.702 per cent in the Grand Prix and 12th on 62.792 per cent in the Special.
Lisa Wilcox, also of Wellington, was eliminated from the Grand Prix on Pikko del Cerro HU and did not start Denzello.
