Natalya Yurkevich and Donpetro HL proved unbeatable for gold at the FEI Central Asia Dressage Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan last weekend.  Only host nation riders competed at the 2013 edition which was at CDI* level, with medals offered in both the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle.

Kazakhstan’s Sergey Buikevich, who took silver in both classes with Ispovednik, while Janette Bouman and Volan clinched double-bronze at the three-day event.

Natalya Yurkevich posted a winning score of 63.521 per cent in Saturday’s Grand Prix Special.

Sergey Buikevich and his 15-year-old black stallion, Ispovednik, attained a mark of 62.563 per cent for silver while Janette Bouman’s 59.542 per cent was good enough for bronze.  Janette’s ride was on the 19-year-old Volan, formerly competed by Sergey Buikevich to win both the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle at the Central Asia Championships in 2007 and again in 2009.

At the previous championships in Almaty two years ago, the medals were awarded at Intermediate 1 and Freestyle Intermediate 1 level at which Natalya won silver behind Buikevich in the first of these but captured the Freestyle in 2011. Last Sunday, she did so again when Donpetro posted 66.725 per cent for the win.
