PERL-BORG, Germany, July 20–Germany’s Olympic team combination of Krstina Sprehe and Desperados FRH won the Peterhof Dressur Gala CDI4* Freestyle Saturday night by a big margin over a top field and back on form ahead of the European Championships next month after an injury timeout earlier this year.

Kristina and the 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion (De Niro x Wolkenstein) scored 82.500 per cent, with fellow German Christoph Koschel and Rostropowitsch NRW second on 75.775 per cent and Austria’s Olympic partnership of Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin OLD third on 75.350 per cent.

In the Grand Prix on Friday, Kristina and Desperados won with 78.170 per cent while Victoria and Augustin placed second on 72.702 and Isabell Werth of Germany and Der Stern OLD were third on 70.660 per cent.

Isabell and Der Stern placed fourth in the Freestyle, with 74.875 per cent, just 0.15 percentage points ahead of the USA’s Caroline Roffman of Wellington, Florida and Sagacious HF who were awarded  74.725 per cent in the first CDI Grand Prix competition for the pair.

In the Grand Prix for the Special, Isabell and Bella Rose scored 76.277 per cent for the win in only their second CDI Grand Prix.

Fellow German Olympian Nadine Capellmann and Girasole were second on 72.915 per cent and Michael Eilberg on Half Moon Delphi that he will compete on Great Britain’s team at the Nations Cup in Hickstead, England in August was third on 71.745 per cent.

Mikala Gundersen of Denmark, based in Wellington, Florida and My Lady scored 68.043 per cent to place eighth while the USA’s Susan Dutta, also of Wellington, placed ninth on Currency DC with 66.851 per cent.

The Grand Prix Special is scheduled for Sunday.
