FRITZENS, Austria, July 14–Italy’s Valentina Truppa grabbed victories in the Freestyle on her Olympic mount Eremo del Castegno and the Special on Chablis on Sunday after taking both Grand Prix qualifying events at the Manfred Swarovski CDI4*.

The United States’ Tina Konyot and her Olympic partner Calecto V placed second in the Freestyle after slotting into third place in the qualifying Grand Prix while German Olympic rider Dorothee Schneider on Kasiserkult TSF was third.

Valentina and Eremo del Castegno, a 12-year-old Italian-bred gelding (Rohdiamant x Weltmeyer), scored 79.475 per cent in the Freestyle after taking the Grand Prix with 76.553 per cent.

Tina Konyot of Palm City, Florida and the 15-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion (Come Back II x Rastell) that she rode on the U.S. teams at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and last summer’s Olympics in London, were awarded 76.450 per cent in the Freestyle. The pair scored 70.787 per cent in the Grand Prix.

Germany’s Dorothee Schneider and Kaiserkult TSF posted 74.725 per cent in the Freestyle and 71.851 per cent in the Grand Prix.

While Eremo del Castegno has become Valentina’s championship horse, Chablis, the horse she rode to medal-winning performances as a Young Rider six years ago, won the Grand Prix Special and the qualifying Grand Prix.

Valentina and the 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Castro x Leonardo II) scored 72.688 per cent in the Special and 71.170 per cent in the Grand Prix. The score in the Special was a personal best, their revious high being 69.978 per cent at Munich, Germany a year ago.

France’s Karen Tebar and Florentino posted 71.313 per cent to be runnerup in the Special. Jill de Ridder of Germany and Wellington placed third on 67.875 per cent.

Mikala Gundersen and My Lady, the Danish combination based in Wellington, Florida, scored 70.043 per cent to win the consolation Grand Prix Sunday.

The result was a personal best for the pair that began competing at CDI Grand Prix in Florida in February, 2012. The horse was bought as a “fun” partnership by Janne Rumbough, a Danish-born resident of Palm Beach who is an active amateur rider, for Mikala to compete.

Mikala and the 13-year-old Danish Warmblood mare by Michellino came to Europe for this first time this summer to compete in the Danish Chamionships and rode for her national team at the Rotterdam CDIO5* last month.
