LEXINGTON, Kentucky, July 11–A Dressage High Performance Owners’ Task Force to explore ways of expanding ownership including syndication possibilities was announced by U.S. Equestrian Federation President Chrystine Tauber Thursday.
The task force comprises:
–Bruce Hlavacek, Chairman, who with his wife, Jen, is the owner of Weltino’s Magic that won team and individual gold at the 2011 Pan American Games and swept the small tour at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany;
–Jane Forbes Clark, the owner of dressage horses ridden by Katherine Bateson-Chandler including Nartan on the U.S. team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, jumpers ridden by Great Britain’s Olymic team gold medalist Ben Maher and driving horses driven by Chester Weber of the United States. For many years, she owned horses that took Robert Dover to multiple Olympics;
–Margaret Duprey who owns dressage horses ridden by Todd Flettrich who competed her Otto on the 2010 WEG team and also owns Cedric, the gray jumper ridden by Laura Kraut on the U.S. gold medal team at the 2008 Olympics
–Michael Davis the owner of dressage horses ridden by his duaghter, Bebe, and Cesar Parra who was a member of the gold medal team at the 2011 Pan Ams for the United States and at the 2004 Olympics, 2002 and 2006 World Equestrian Games and 1999 and 2003 Pan Ams for his native Colombia;
–Elizabeth Meyer is one of the “Three Amigos”–Ann Romney and Amy Ebeling are the other two–who own Rafalca that was ridden by Jan Ebeling at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2009, 2011 and 2012 World Cup Finals, and recently bought top German prospect Rassolini for Jan to develop as a future American team hopeful, and
–Akiko Yamazaki, the owner of Legolas ridden by Steffen Peters and of Ravel that Steffen rode in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and the 2010 WEG winning two individual bronze medals.
The task force was developed out of a recommendation by the Blue Ribbon Panel and the High Performance Dressage Committee.
“The DOTF will create and formalize an Owners Communication and Appreciation program for existing owners and for the recruitment of new owners,” the USEF said in a statement. “Various ownership structures will be explored with a focus on syndication possibilities to broaden ownership participation and provide an entry point for High Performance horse ownership.”
