SAUMUR, France, May 4–Carl Hester and Dances With Wolves turned in their best performance since starting Grand Prix early this year with a victory in the Special at the Saumur CDI3* Saturday.
The Olympic gold medalist and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Donnerschwee x Waldfee x Waldorf) were awarded 75.791 per cent, their highest score at Grand Prix and Special in their sixth start and fifth straight win since beginning the Big Tour two months ago. The pair scored 73.063 per cent in the Grand Prix Thursday.
Fellow Briton Nikki Crisp on Fasoa was second on 72,250 per cent. She was also the runnerup in the Grand Prix with 69.383 per cent. France’s Karen Tebar on Florentino 47 was third on 71.083 per cent, filling the same slot in the Grand Prix on 68.851 per cent.
