WELLINGTON, Florida, April 5–American Olympian Robert Dover will perform a pas de deux with fellow Olympian Tina Konyot on Calecto V as an entertainment feature of the “Solid Gold!” benefit for the United States Equestrian Team Foundation during the Global Dressage Festival’s Nations Cup on Friday, April 12.
Robert Dover will ride Talent, a 13-year-old KWPN gelding, in a musical performance specially created for the Grand Prix Special–each pair riding a mirror image of the test.
Robert retired from competition in 2007 after riding in six Olympics for the United States but has been training Talent for owner Jane Springer.
Tina and the 15-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion are still actively competing after riding on the U.S. team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010 and the Olympics in London last summer.
The freestyle was created by Marlene Whitaker of Columbus, North Carolina as a contribution to the benefit to be staged at the Global Dressage Festival at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12 and aimed at raising money to fund American dressage teams in Europe this year.
Equestrian Sport Productions and Wellington Equestrian Partners that own and manage the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center that includes the dressage grounds, are hosting the event at the Global Pavilion at The Stadium complex.
The benefit is being held in conjunction with the CDIO3* Nations Cup presented by Stillpoint Farm at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival.
Arlene “Tuny” Page and her husband, David, owners of Stillpoint are providing wine for the benefit dinner from David’s legendary cellar.
A live auction will offer a trip to the Meadowood luxury resort on Napa Valley, California, a trip to the exclusive Monwana Resort in South Africa, the chance to win a “Day with a Team Rider” as well as a seat next to one of the judges at the following day’s Nations Cup competition.
Meadowood, a luxury resort on 250 acres in California’s Napa Valley offering golf, tennis, croquet, hiking, swimming, fitness, spa, wine education and a Michelin three-star restaurant restaurant, is putting up for auction two days and two nights for two couples.
Monwana Resort owner Eliana Cordia has offered for auction a trip for two to South Africa, which includes a three-day and three-night safari and stay at the luxurious resort.
Dress for the event is “casual to gilded” to fit with the gold theme.
Tickets are available at $200 each or $1,600 for a table of eight. Sponsorship is also available at Silver ($2,500), Gold ($5,000), and Platinum ($10,000) levels.
