BREMEN, Germany, Feb. 3–Maria Anita Andersen of Denmark riding Blue Hors Loxana was the upset winner of the euroclassics Pferde Festival Grand Prix Special Sunday and admitted she was “overwhelmed” by the victory in only her second ever CDI Grand Prix event.
The 32-year-old and Loxana scored 74.250 per cent to beat out Austria’s three-time Olympian Victoria Max-Theurer and Blind Date who finished second on 72.479 per cent Germany’s Brigitte Wittig and Balmoral W and Ingred Klimke and Liostro tied for third on 70.646 per cent.
Although the CDI3* win qualified Maria Anita and the 11-year-old mare (Diamond Hit x Luandra x Argentinus) for the Meggle Champions Final, one of the most prestigious series in Germany, the pair may have to pass up the event in Dortmund as it conflicts with the Blue Hors stallion presentation.
Maria Anita and Loxana have competed only once before in Grand Prix at a CDI, in Lingen, Germany last June.
Next week, she said, she is scheduled to present four horses at the Blue Hors stud show–“that’s my job.”
Victoria Max-Theurer was happy with the beginning of her test and the piaffe and passage, but mistakes in the flying changes were expensive.
