Cassadee Pope, winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” one of the highest rated American TV network programs, will perform at the Trump Invitational Grand Prix jumping event at the famed Mar-a-Lago Club on Palm Beach Sunday, joning a lineup of Olympic gold medalists and other jumper riders from four continents and a dressage exhibition that is a feature of Wellington’s Great Charity Challenge.

The performance by Cassadee, 23 years old and who comes from Wellington, was announced by Mark Bellissimo, chief executive of Equestrian Sport Productions that is organizing the $100,000 event. It benefits the FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge that distributes more than $1 million to charities located near the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center that hosts the Winter Equestrian Festival and the Global Dressage Festival.

Cassadee will perform the opening entertainment as well as sing the national anthem to start competition.

“Wellington and the Palm Beach County community have been so supportive of me and this is an opportunity to give back to the charities in the area,” she said. “It means a great deal to me, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the event.”

Cassadee is a graduate of Wellington High School which in turn was one of the group of 12 public schools in the community that took first place in the 2012 FTI GCC to share $150,000 in prize money.

The Great Charty Challenge distributes more than $1 million each year to 32 Palm Beach County charities in a pro-am team equestrian competition that this year will be held Jan. 26 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The event was founded by Mark Bellissimo and his daughter, Paige, and has raised and distributed more than $2.7 million over the last three years.

Mar-a-Lago, the venue for the Trump Invitational, is the former Marjorie Merriweather Post estate purchased and restored by Donald Trump in 1985. It is one of the most spectacular mansions in the world, in the national register of historic places and a designated U.S National Landmark.

The $100,000 Trump Invitational will be the first ever equestrian event held on Palm Beach island and will kick off the 2013 Winter Equestrian Festival of jumper and hunter competition and the companion Global Dressage Festival attracting riders from more than 30 nations.
