WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, Nov. 11–Caroline Roffman competed Sagacious HF for the first time since taking over the ride this summer on the Pan American Games team gold and individual silver medal mount, scoring 72.442 per cent in the Young Rider Grand Prix at a national show before a single judge.

Caroline of Wellington, Florida, took over the ride on the 13-year-old KWPN gelding (Welt Hit II x Judith x Cocktail) after the U.S. Olympic selecion trials in June.

Up to that time, he had been trained and competed by Lauren Sammis of South Orange, New Jersey and won gold for the U.S. team and individual silver at the 2007 Pan Ams in Rio de Janiero.

“Riding such a wonderfully trained horse is a pleasure and though we are just getting to know each other I feel like he is already trying to please me,” Caroline said.

She is working with her longtime trainer, Danish Olympian Lars Petersen, who is based in Florida.

With the intense Florida winter circuit ahead of her, she said she is no making plans but has made no secret of wanting to compete in the Under -25 division at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany, before she is too old in another year.
