The United States dressage championships that the U.S. Equestrian Federation had hoped to find a West Coast host for 2013 announced Wednesday it has extended bidding by a month and will accept bids from both East and West Coast venues.

The USEF Dressage Festival of Champions encompass six divisions–Grand Prix, Intermediaire I, Young Adult “Brentina” Cup, Young Rider, Junior Rider and Pony Rider.

A bid package is available from the USEF’s Jenny Van Wieren-Page at 859-225-6949 or at jvanwieren@usef.org. Bids are due at the USEF by the close of business on Friday, Nov. 2.

The event has been staged at the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey the past four years and attracts competitors who qualify from across the country, with strong representation from California.

The festival has been both a competition and spectator success when it has been held in California during championship team selection years but no championships are scheduled for the United States in 2013.

The original request for bids was for a West Coast venue by a deadline of Oct. 5.

The USEF said it did not receive any bids for a West Coast venue so the Eligible Athlete and High Performance committees agreed to open the bidding process to both coasts.
