DEVON, Pennsylvania, Sept. 26–Beatrice VDL, a six-year-old KWPN mare, was named Dressage at Devon Grand Champion Wednesday, competing for the first time since 2008 at these same show grounds.

Beatrice, owned by Pieter Ruig who until earlier this year operated a horse farm in Long Island’s Shelter Island, New York, also won the Mature Horse Championship.

The mare (Prestige VDL xL’Actrice) was originally bred in the Netherlands by VDL stud.

The Materiale Championship was won by Don Frederic HVH (Don Frederico x EM Wruffian Q), bred by High Valley Hanoverians of Suches, Georgia.

Sir Wanabi (Santorini x Lily Germaine) took home first place honors in the USDF/Great American Insurance Group Stallion Championship.

Beatrice VDL was selected out of approximately 1,000 fillies of 2006 to compete in the KWPN National Foal Championships, placing third.

She was shown as a yearling and a two-year-old at Dressage at Devon and the nearby Fair Fill, Maryland, breed show.
